Excavation is a collaboration between a Finnish construction company HV-Maarakennus and a dancer Ella Posti. The film captures an excavator and a dancer in a duet. This work delves into the relationship between the human body and the machine, exploring how both can simultaneously embody immense power and delicate sensitivity. Excavation breathes life into the excavator and explores the possibilities of the human-machine connection through a posthumanist perspective. What does it mean for a human and excavator to engage in physical contact? How can they show care and support for each other and on the other hand seek autonomy from one another?
