Brumation by Mathilde Lin X Jack Whiteley

Brumation is a collaboration between Paris-based French-Chinese dancer Mathilde Lin and UK-based filmmaker Jack Whiteley. The film celebrates solitude, portraying a person navigating a big city alone. We wanted to invite viewers to explore moments of quiet contemplation and playfulness, encouraging reflection on their own experiences of solitude. The film was shot on a very cold January day in Paris at the end of lockdown in 2022. With this in mind, the film could also be viewed as an expression of apathy and the lack of self-motivation many of us felt coming out of lockdown as we tried to reconnect with the world around us.
