FILM/

BROTHERS by Max Cookward

For life is the best thing we have in this existence. And if we should desire to believe in something, it should be a beacon within. This beacon being the sun, sea, and sky, our children, our work, our companions and, most simply put, the embodiment of love.” - Patti Smith

BROTHERS is an autobiographical work by Max Cookward, touching on themes of brotherhood, joy, care and what it is to love unconditionally. Filmed at the height of spring in the brothers’ homeland of rural Yorkshire, part one of the film vividly captures the intimate and unconventionally beautiful bond shared between Max and Lyall. Part 2 of the film expresses what it's like for Max to be a carer for Lyall and how they use movement to process the nuanced and complex emotions that arise when caring for someone so vulnerable.
