Aimed at both beginners and established photographers, this workshop run by dance media artist Jack Thomson is a unique opportunity to explore the defining principles in Jack's approach to photographing dance. The workshop will begin with an exploration of spatial planes, and how to compose pictures at the intersection of choreography and photography. Participants will then challenge their own approaches to collaboration, as they will be set a variety of tasks and exercises to work with professional dancers Hannah Rudd and Chihiro Kawasaki. The session will finish with an informal talk on the history of dance photography. The workshop will be held in the legendary Studio 1 at Studio Wayne McGregor and will last four hours (including breaks). Space is limited to 10 participants.
